Where students are placed
ORIGINS serves every surgical specialty housed under the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons (ACOS). When we have a principal investigator in a specialty, we connect them with students ready to contribute, and we are always adding new mentors.

Cardiac and thoracic research spanning transplantation, valve surgery, and innovation in the operating room. When a cardiothoracic PI is available, students join active projects from data collection to manuscript.
Investigations across urologic oncology, endourology, reconstruction, and access to urologic care. Students are connected with urology PIs as mentors and projects come online.
Open and endovascular research, limb salvage, and the systems questions around vascular access and disease. Vascular PIs mentor students through focused, publishable projects.
Reconstructive and aesthetic surgery research, from microsurgery and wound healing to technique and outcomes. Students pair with plastic surgery PIs on scoped, achievable deliverables.
Cranial and spinal research across oncologic, vascular, and functional neurosurgery. When a neurosurgery PI is available, students contribute to active scholarly work.
Don't see your specialty, or are you a principal investigator ready to mentor? ORIGINS covers every ACOS surgical specialty and is always expanding. PIs can partner with us here.
